¿ What is happening to the world thanks to humans?
¿Is global warming one of the most important problems that we have nowadays?
Can we work together better than alone? This is the
question that we need to ask ourselves to provide solutions towards the global
warming.
In the past month, I travel to India with the school,
there is where I realized how human actions are affecting the world, because
one of the days that we were there we visited a beach that was completely
fulfill of plastic up to such a point that there were tons of plastic under the
sand and digger was necessary to take out that plastic. Another problem
that I saw related to global warming was the indescribable pollution that was
in the air, this pollution was so intense that it reach a point, that for me
was an unimaginable point, I'd never thought that the pollution can get to a
point that from my bedroom where I stayed I could not see the building that was
separated 100 meters from mine because of the pollution.we
Gobal warming is one of the most important problems that the world is facing nowadays, because as National Geographic says that the rising of sea levels is one of the greatest consequences of global warming. Sea levels are rising very fast, each year the seas increases 3.2mm. This rising of the seas is thanks to three factors:
- Thermal expansion: When water heats up, it expands. Over the half of the sea rising in the last 25 years is thanks to warmer oceans because they occupied more space.
- Melting glaciers: Thanks to the increase in temperatures cause by global warming, had created a higher average summer melting also decrease in snowfall because of the later winters and earlier springs. This creates an imbalance in the melting of glaciers (occurs in summer) and the snow that falls in winter, causing sea levels to rise.
- Loss of Greenland and Antartica's ice sheet: The same that is happening with glaciers is happening with the ice sheet that covers Greenland and Antartica, that rapidly increase in temperatures are doing that the Greenland's ice sheet move more quickly towards the sea.
- Don't buy plastic bag: If you go to the grocery store and you have the option to choose a plastic or a paperboard bag, choose the paperboard bag. If you don't have the option use the plastic bag, but the next time you go to the grocery store
This rising in the sea levels can have devastating effects on the coastal habitants, for example, it can cause more dangerous hurricanes and typhoons. This increase in the sea level has made the habitants of coastal areas to migrate to a higher ground.
In my opinion, this problem is a very serious problem that if we don't find a solution soon we are going to be in a situation where there is not going to be a return and if we applied solutions at that point they are not going to be efficient so we would need to suffer the consequences without having the opportunity to remedy this problem. It's better to find a solution in the point that we are now than in a future point where there is no way back.
If you don't know what to, I'm here to tell you some solutions to put your two cents for solving this problem, here are four examples of how you can help:
- Energy and water efficiency: Reduce the consumption of light and water by trying to use more efficient devices like LED light bulbs is lees costly and more efficient.
- Sustainable transportation: Promoting public transport, carpooling and also electric mobility can help reduce the CO2 emission.
- Sustainable agriculture and forest managment: Encouraging a better use of natural resources, stopped massive deforestation.
- Don't buy plastic bag: If you go to the grocery store and you have the option to choose a plastic or a paperboard bag, choose the paperboard bag. If you don't have the option use the plastic bag, but the next time you go to the grocery store reuse that plastic bag.
After this being said, are you going to stay with your arms close and see how the planet Earth gets destroy?NOOO you should start applying the solutions that I've mentioned tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but in a near future so we don't reach the catastrophe.
I totally agree with your ideas and arguments since I have lived some of the events you have named and the truth is that the situation is hopeless. As you said, if we do not act we will already be in an irreversible problem and sincerely I would like to give my children a future. I liked the structure that you used to present your ideas and solutions, making it attractive to the eye and that it's fun to read it. It is definitely a good blog on the subject.
